PROJECT KOVA
Update – 08/04/2025:
Somewhere in the summer of ’24, during a hiking trip, the idea hit
me:
how cool would it be to have one single app where you can discover new hiking spots, check the weather,
and keep
track of your adventures? You know the classic meme “bro said he knew a spot” — I wanted to turn that
feeling
into a real map filled with genuinely amazing places. Add to that a bit of forecasting, some useful data
tracking,
and a community-driven element where people can submit and review their favourite spots, and suddenly
the concept
started to look like something I really wanted to build.
I began sketching out ideas and designs at the end of 2024 and started coding in early 2025. Since then, KOVA has been slowly growing as a side project — not something I work on full-time, but a passion project that keeps evolving whenever I find the time. You can follow the development here on my blog.
If you’re curious to try it out, you can also check the current beta version. Just keep in mind that it’s still very much in development, so bugs are part of the deal. If you spot anything weird, feel free to let me know — feedback is more than welcome.
